As a designer for kid's gear at PBK, I develop new concepts for collections of gear, including backpacks, tote bags and luggage piece types. 

The collection featured is the Fall 2017 Striped Critter Collection. The pieces are designed to be very textural, using various fabrications of appliqué layered on to a yarn-dyed stripe ground. I'm especially excited and passionate about the "playful handle" tote bag designs, which let a child interact with a tote bag in a fun and unexpected way...like looping a rainbow over their shoulder!

As a print & pattern designer at Pottery Barn Kids, I develop thematic concepts and artwork for PBK's Mackenzie gear collection each season.

The featured artwork shows a mix of Mackenzie Gear prints for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. I also designed a set of playful backpack patches for Spring 2018.

Designing PBK food storage, I work on innovating our product line of bento boxes, snack containers and water bottles with new finishes, techniques and color stories. 

As a designer for hard line tabletop, I develop original artwork & graphics for nursery & seasonal collections, and also create layouts and concepts for seasonal licensed collections.

As a diaper bag designer, I work closely with PBK merchants to determine what our design strategies and goals for diaper bags will be each season. From new "core" designs to fashion pieces and gender neutral bags & backpacks, designing diaper bags is a really exciting challenge. My goal is to not only develop inspiring looks with a fashionable edge, but also incorporate innovative technologies into a bag's fabrication and function.

The Fall 2017 Classic Mom Backpack was designed to sit with PBK's Classic Mom Diaper Bag collection. The Larkspur Diaper backpack was designed as a sporty, value backpack, and includes a fully insulated front pocket. The Hyde diaper bag converts from a shoulder bag into a backpack and features a large, fully insulated front pocket.

At Martha Stewart, I designed woven & printed bedding for Martha Stewart's collection at Macy's Home Stores.  Working with the design team, I helped to develop inspiration to best reflect the brand each season.  Along with designing overall bedding collections and their components, I also created & designed new patterns, developed bedding tech packs, CAD artwork, and help design other categories as needed, including kitchen and beach.

When I started working at sOUP in 2010, all that existed was a pile of loose ideas.  I was motivated by the chance to help bring an exciting new home furnishings brand to life and be an integral part of the entire design & development process.  After launching our first collection in 2011, sOUP textiles caught the attention of stores including Anthropologie, ABC Home, Design within Reach, HD Buttercup and specialty stores across the U.S.

The Gobi & Zephyr rugs were inspired by patterns in the sand made by the wind.  The rugs were designed for sOUP home and sold at Design within Reach, in stores and online.  The Gobi rug was featured on the cover of DWR's January 2013 catalog.

The rugs are handwoven by artisans in Egypt's Delta Region and made with 100% undyed wool - the colors in the rugs are the natural colors of sheep native to the area. 

sOUP sold specific bedding designs exclusively to Anthropologie:

The Tosi Duvet was inspired by the artisans we work with in Bagru, India, and their generations-old craft of block printing.  To soften an otherwise bold print, a layer of lightweight voile is added on top of the pattern, along with yellow tacks for a sweet pop of color.

The Rona & Lumaya bedding bundles offered the Anthropologie customer a full bed set, including one duvet, two standard shams, three decorative pillows and a knit throw.  The pieces all work together without being too matchy, whitch gives the bedding a more personalized look. 

The Sarrat Sheet Set is a folk-inspired floral pattern.

sOUP bedding bundles were sold at ABC Home in New York City.

At sOUP, I traveled frequently to India, working directly with factories in Delhi, sourcing new goods in Delhi and Jaipur, and working with artisan block printers in the village of Bagru.

I helped design a set of fruit tea towels during my internship at Jonathan Adler, which embodied his happy chic aesthetic.  They were later sold at HSN as a part of a collection by JA.

My self-led senior research project and thesis at the Edinburgh College of Art explores the impact design has on a child's development.  I created a series of play tables which combines the "learning through play" capability of toys with the function of furniture.

The "Cognitive" play table was inspired by a child's interest and education in logic and reversibilities.  Holes in the table top and legs become starting points for kids to build ball or toy car ramps and tracks out of recycled cardboard or paper.  

The "Social" play table uses chalkboard masks as a way to encourage imaginative play and initiate storytelling.

A playful & practical shelving and seating unit, the Wisnug is designed for children and families.  The design allows the user to "solve" the maze by moving a wooden ball through a track in the wood's surface.  The piece was hand-built at the Chippendale International School of Furniture.

Inspired by the classic child's game of jumbling characters' heads, bodies and legs, Peek-A-Boo Boxes is made up of 18 storage cubbies which spin to mix up the different characters.  

The unit playfully encourages memory skills and color matching, incorporating function through its storage cubbies and durable table top.

Each cubbie opens to reveal an imaginatve hand-painted scene.

The piece was hand-built at the Chippendale International School of Furniture.
